The goal of a Spiritual Direction group is the same as the goal for an individual session. To help us notice and deepen our relationship with the spirituality in our lives. This spirituality is called by endless names: the Divine, Wholeness, Truth, God, Sacred, Shekhinah, Something greater than ourselves, Adonai, Creator, Creation, and so much more. Joining a Spiritual Direction group adds community, being witnessed by others, and learning how to gently and compassionately respond to others to give them the gift of deepening their connection with the Sacred.
We meet bi-weekly or monthly depending on the group. Groups are usually limited to 5 or 6 so everyone has a chance to be witnessed. I often use writing or other creative arts expression to help embody the experience.
Groups start out as limited to a set number of sessions (usually 8), with the opportunity to continue.
Themes for groups can include: healing and resilience, grief and mourning, exploring psalms or a particular spiritual holiday. The possibilities are endless. I often have several ongoing groups and periodically openings become available. Please let me know if you are interested in being on my waiting list for one of my groups. Click here to contact me.
Devotional Listening Group Forming for Chaplains and Spiritual Directors and others working in healthcare or giving professions.
Chaplains and Spiritual Directors are immersed in the spiritual and physical lives of people often during very challenging times. We hold a lot, give a lot, and care a lot. We need a place to take a breath, listen to the still small voice, find meaning in our lives and work, and reconnect to the Sacred. In a small group we have the opportunity to be heard by others and to offer devotional listening to one another in a reflective and creative setting.
I am forming another monthly group for spiritual accompaniment through devotional listening to self/the Sacred/and one another, writing, and sharing. Limited to five participants. People of all traditions welcome.
Details: monthly group will start when I have five people available.
Contact R. Chaya Gusfield to get on my waiting list, for fee arrangements, and to see if this group is a good match for you. For more information go here.
